Context: I’ve had dozens of trades “professionals” work in my house during renovations. Jon is in the top 1%. He saved my sanity. If all tradespeople were like Jon, the last year of my life would have been so much easier. I initially hired a general contractor for renovations, including tile work, with disastrous results. I then hired Jon to demo the bathroom tile installed by the GC and to install new bathroom tile (shower and walls) as well as a kitchen backsplash.

1. HE COMMUNICATES: From getting the bid to signing the contract to executing the project, Jon kept me updated. Whenever something unexpected occurred, as seems to happen in all remodels, Jon let me know and proposed solutions. For example, when we had an issue with the tile product, he proactively called the manufacturer and then followed up with me about our options.
2. HE SHOWS UP: Jon let me know the hours he would be at my house and then showed up at those times. I never had to wonder about anything related to the schedule. This shouldn’t be rare among tradespeople, but it is – I've had contractors no show for weeks. Thank goodness I found Jon. I had no issue giving him to the code to my house and trusting that he would come and go and keep things secure.
3. HE DOES EXCELLENT WORK: I’m a perfectionist. I had Jon re-do tile that had been installed just a few weeks prior by an incompetent contractor. I knew it could be done better, and I was right – Jon did an amazing job. He consulted with me on decisions related to aesthetics and functionality, but eventually I trusted Jon to do what he thought was best. Also, while renovations are inevitably dirty, Jon kept things clean beyond my expectations and much better than other contractors.
4. HE KNOWS A LOT: Jon is an expert tile guy, but he also pointed me in the right direction for many other house issues, including recommendations for other quality tradespeople. He went above and beyond to help during a stressful renovation.
